An Unemployed Graduate
An unemployed graduate woke up one morning and checked his pocket. All he had left was $10. He decided to use it to buy food and then wait for death as he was too proud to go begging. He was frustated as he could find no job,and nobody was ready to help him. He bought food and as he sat down to eat, an old man and two little children came along and asked him to help them with food as they had not eaten for almost a week. He looked at them. They were so lean he could see their bones. Their eyes had gone into there sockets. With the last bit of compassion he had, he gave them food. The old man and children prayed that God would bless and prosper him and then gave a very old coin. The young graduate said to them 'you need this more than i do.' With no job, no money, no food, the young graduate sat down under the bridge to rest and wait for death. As he was about to sleep , he saw an old newspaper on the ground. He picked it up, and suddenly he saw an advertisement for people with old coins to come to a certain address. He decided to go there with the coin the old man gave him. Upon arriving , he gave the proprietor the coin. The proprietor screamed, brought out a big book and showed the young graduate a photograph. This old coin was worth 3 million dollars. The young graduate was overjoyed as the proprietor gave him a bank draft for 3 million dollars within an hour. He collected the bank draft and went in search of the old man and the little children. By the time he got to where he left them eating, they were gone. He ask the owner of the canteen if he knew them. He said no, but they left a note for you. He quickly opened the note thinking it would lead him to find them. This is what the note said: 'You gave us your all and we rewarded you back with a coin,' signed GOD THE FATHER, THE SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT. 1 Kings 17:10-16; Matthew 11:28-30

Thanksgiving; A very good friend sent me this poem and I’d like to share it with you.
A Thanksgiving Day Prayer
Lord, so often times, as any other day
When we sit down to our meal and pray
We hurry along and make fast the blessing
Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing
We're slaves to the olfactory overload
We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold
But Lord, I'd like to take a few minute more
To really give thanks to what I'm thankful for
For my family, my health, a nice soft bed
My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head
I'm thankful right now to be surrounded by those
Whose lives touch me more than they'll ever possibly know
Thankful Lord, that You've blessed me beyond measure
Thankful that in my heart lives life's greatest treasure
That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place
And I'm ever so grateful for Your unending grace
So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You've provided
And bless each and every person invited
Amen!

Friendship
My Mom,seen here on the left with my daughter, was my best friend. We might as well have been jointed at the hip. She was kind, funny, smart and my biggest fan. She passed away 3 years ago. I miss her everyday. Thanks Mom for everything. You taught me so much. I pray that I can be half as good a Mom to Kaydie as you were to me. I see so much of you in her. A laugh, a joke, her carefree spirit and so much more. She’s 5 now and tells me your her Gardian angel. I believe it. Tell God thanks for letting me borrow you for a little while and letting you be a angel that watches over my sweet little girl. I love you Mom.

whats good for you
Today all we hear this is bad for you. That is bad for you. Now it's important we know what's bad for us,but I want to know what's good for us too. Do I have you attention? Good. A hand full (about12) of nuts especially almonds not only taste good, but speeds up your metabolism. Nuts also zap the munchies. Berries are another good thing. Yummy and good for you to. What?!?! Yummy and good for me?!?! Yes you heard me right. Did you know 1/4 of cinnamon sprinkled on your food before eating it may prevent a insulin spike? The spike usually occurs after a meal. And cinnamon also burns fat according to Lauren Slayton,R.D. of NYC. Studies show mustard can slow the growth of fat cells. Sweet potatoes are high in fiber. You can eat them like a baked potato or.... LISTEN UP FRENCH FRY LOVERS!!! Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them long ways, they'll look like steak fries. Get a huge zip lock bag and place your sweet potato slices in it. Put 2 to 3 teaspoons of olive oil, (olive oil is healthier than other oils), in the bag with the potatoes. Shake the bag until your potatoes are coated with the oil. Preheat the oven to 350*degrees. Place the slices on a cookie sheet. Cook until tender about 30 minutes. The best "fries" you've ever had. Delicious and better than any Mcy Ds' fry you've ever tasted. Your family will fight for the last fry. Bake, boil, and broil. You'll feel better. Your skin will look better. Your body will look fabulous Darlin'. And your hips WILL slim down. How do I know? I lost 115 pounds doing this and working out within a year. YOU CAN DO IT! And to all you skinny minnies. Just because your skinny doesn't mean your healthy. You should eat healthy too.

sucker
Past funny memories I thought id share with you. I was very gullible as a child and sadly sometimes I still can be.My Great Uncle Lenwood was a total cut up/ goof ball if you will.(Practical joker). It's like that was his mission in life was to put one over on ya. His jokes were never cruel. I was one of his favorites because he got me every time. Now you would think I would have caught on sooner or later. Nope I always fell for the gag. Uncle Lenwood was a real cowboy. He had a huge old tractor to mow the acres and acres of grass land he and Aunt Bervely had. I was 11 years old and he was going to let me drive Bessy, his tractor, his pride and joy.I was SO EXCITED! He gave me instructions as to what he wanted me to do. "Now listen",he said. "When you come around to those plantin' hills pull this lever all the away down and sit back." Do any of you see where this is going? So I did as he said. When I came around to the plantin' hills I pulled the lever all the way down. Before I could sit all the way back as instructed that sucker flew into high gear and my butt was hanging on for dear life. Now this was funny until we realized 10 minutes later that he forgot to tell me how to stop this contraption. So I ran the tractor round and round till she ran out of gas (IN HIGH GEAR). He tried to yell over the loud motor, but it was no use I couldn't hear a thing. And he surely couldn't catch me.2 hours later the ride ended. My Mammaw, his sister, gave him an ear full for not ridin' with me. He laughed so hard he cried. What a ride.

Bank Account
BANK ACCOUNT!!! This is AWESOME ... something we should all remember. A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shavedperfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiledsweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elev ator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.' 'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. 'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing. 'Remember the five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred. 2. Free your mind from worries. 3. Live simply. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less. Author unknown |
